CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Champions were crowned in five flights as the 2015 Iowa Conference Women's Tennis Individual Tournament concluded Saturday at the Clark Racquet Center on the campus of Coe College.

Coe sophomore Haley Resnick, the top seed and defending champion, won the Flight A singles title with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over No. 2-seeded Arantxa Martinez of UD in a rematch of last year's Flight A final won by Resnick in three sets. Resnick advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Luther's Maggie Helms, while Martinez topped Coe's Amy Sebastian, 7-5, 6-0, in the other semifinal. Helms took third after Sebastian retired, down 1-0, in their consolation match.

Unseeded Claire Christian of Luther posted wins over Wartburg's Alex Petersen (6-3, 6-2) and Loras' Jessica Dickhut (6-3, 6-3) en route to the Flight B title. Dickhut advanced with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Luther's Britta Pressler. Pressler defeated Petersen 6-2, 6-1 for third.

Dubuque's Marissa Joers defeated Central's Amanda Kuhn, 7-6, 6-1, in the semis and Loras' Tara Shingler 6-2, 6-1 in the final to win Flight C. Shingler advanced with a 7-5, 7-6 win over Central's Morgan Ernst. Ernst defeated Kuhn, 6-4, 6-0, for third.

Laura Birky and Haley Resnick defeated top-seeded Maggie Helms and Hailey Johnson of Luther, 8-5, for the Flight A doubles crown. Birky and Resnick, the No. 2 seeds, topped unseeded Jackie Cychosz and Britta Pressler of Luther, 8-3, in the semifinals, while Helms and Johnson advanced with a 9-7 win over Central's fourth-seeded tandem of Angie Allgood and Megan Davis. Allgood and Davis took third with an 8-6 win over Cychosz and Pressler. It was the second straight Flight A doubles title for Birky.

Like Resnick, Claire Christian added a second crown Saturday. She teamed with Madisen Crow to defeat Wartburg's Alex Petersen and Alexa Schmitz, 8-1, in the semifinals before posting an 8-2 win over Loras' Jessica Dickhut and Emma Cooke in the final. Dickhut and Cooke advanced with an 8-2 win over Central's Amanda Kuhn and Emma Grace Walter. Kuhn and Walter took third by an 8-4 score over Petersen and Schmitz.

This weekend's tournament concludes the fall competition season for Iowa Conference schools. The all-conference team, most valuable player and coach of the year will be voted upon by the coaches next week.
