BOX SCORE
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque suffered their first shutout of the season at Luther College, 3-0, on Wednesday night to snap their three-game unbeaten streak to start the Iowa Conference season.

The Spartans (9-4-1, 3-1 Iowa Conference), off to their best conference start since 2012, were outdone by the Norse in shots, 20-5, and corner kicks, 14-1. It was tough sledding all night for the Spartans as the Iowa Conference's leading goal scorer, Gonzalo Hernandez, gave UD their best scoring opportunities with a pair of shots on goal in the second and 85th minutes and one shot off the post in the 68th.

Luther's goal in the 23rd minute and a pair of free kicks midway through the second half were the difference as the Norse (8-3-3, 3-0-1 Iowa Conference) remained undefeated on the conference season.

Senior midfielder Billy Belmonte provided the Spartans other shot on goal while senior goalkeeper Riley Jensen (8-3-1) collected six saves.

The Spartans dropped to 4-10-1 all-time against the Norse in dropping their third straight in the series.

UD hopes to get back to its winning ways this Saturday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. on Senior Night against winless Buena Vista (0-4). The Beavers lost at home to Wartburg, 9-0, on Wednesday night.
