Runge Named to Wheaton Invite All-Tourney Team

WHEATON, Ill. - The University of Dubuque volleyball team wrapped up the weekend at the 2015 Wheaton College Invitational with a 1-3 record. The Spartans lost to Wheaton Friday night 16-25, 18-25, 12-25 before the arena went dark for a short time. After an extended 30 minutes break waiting for the lights to be re-started, the Spartans lost the late night match 25-23, 16-25, 20-25, 21-25 to UW-Eau Claire. Saturday the Spartans beat North Central 3-2 by set scores of 25-13, 22-25, 26-24, 26-28, 18-16. #12-ranked UW-Stevens Point made quick work of the Spartans 25-8, 25-9, 25-21.

Anna Runge (Jr., Middle Hitter, Davenport, Iowa/North HS) grabbed accolades by being the only Spartan to be named to the All-Tournament Team. She finished the weekend with 14 kills, three set assists, an ace, four block solos and three block assists.

The Spartans will play at Simpson on Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. before returning hom eon homecoming week to face Wartburg College on 13 at 7:30 p.m. before hosting a triangular on Friday, Oct. 16 with games scheduled for 4, 6, and 8:00 p.m.
