Women's Basketball Outdone by Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Sophomore Allie Biermeier led the University of Dubuque women's basketball team with 11 points as the Spartans fell to Simpson, 80-53, on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans (5-10, 0-4 Iowa Conference) took the lead with 3:35 in the first half, but Simpson went on a quick 10-2 run and led the remainder of the game. UD faced a double-digit deficit through the last 24 minutes as the Spartan bench outscored its starters, 31-22.

UD shot 34.5 percent on the game, but saw the Storm (10-5, 3-1 Iowa Conference), who are undefeated at home, convert 12 of 24 three-pointers en route to 45.2 percent shooting on the game. Seven Simpson players hit at least one three, while four Storm hoopers scored in double figures.

Biermeier finished with 11 points for the second-straight game and shot 5 of 12 from the field. Starters Abbey Meyer and Emily Brinker, averaging a combined 29 points on the season, were held to a season-low 12 points with eight turnovers. Meyer swiped a game-high four steals.
