Men's Tennis Split on Senior Day

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's tennis team split on Senior Day, losing to the Central Dutch 1-8 before capturing the victory over the Simpson College Storm in a thrilling 5-4 win. Early morning rain pushed the Dutch match indoors, but the Spartans and Storm were able to venture outdoors for their match.
Ranfer Hernandez went 2-0 at #3 singles by beating Central's Tom Palmer in a tie break 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) and winning over AJ Jackson of Simpson 6-1, 6-4. UD jumped out to an early lead against Simpson by taking 2-3 doubles matches and captured #1, #2, and #3 singles to claim the match victory.
The Spartans travel across town on Tuesday to face the Loras College Duhawks at 3:30 p.m. before making the long journey to Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves in Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday April 28 for a 9:00 match before wrapping up the regular season at Buena Vista University Beavers in Storm Lake, Iowa, on Sunday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m.. The Iowa individual tournament begins on May 4-5 at #1 seed.
