DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque will hold a December Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 3:00 p.m. in Heritage Center’s John and Alice Butler Hall on campus.

The University will confer degrees on 137 undergraduate and 52 graduate students at the ceremony in its 166th year of celebrating the convocation for conferring of degrees. It is the third year UD has celebrated a December Commencement.

Kevin Cattani, PhD, associate professor of Sport Marketing and Management and director of marketing and promotions for the Department of Athletics, will deliver the Commencement address, titled “Just Be Nice.” He has served UD for the last five and a half years. Cattani leads a multidisciplinary group of students who plan, implement, and evaluate events geared towards improving the fan experience at University athletic contests.

Cattani said he has enjoyed being part of the rapid growth of the Sport Marketing and Management program on campus, and he has truly relished the chance to watch his students achieve their goals, both academically and athletically. Since fall 2012, the Sport Marketing and Management program has become one of the fastest growing degree tracks on campus.

Cattani earned his Bachelor of Science degree (2006), Master of Science degree (2008), and Doctor of Philosophy degree (2012) from the University of Florida. All of his degrees are in the field of sport management with concentrations in marketing and consumer behavior.
