DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team got their weekend started off right as they swept the Simpson College Storm in straight sets, 3-0 (25-21,25-15,25-19).

After the Spartans jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first set, the Storm responded with a mini rally of their own to tie it back up. From that point on it was a back and fourth set in which neither team could go ahead by more than one point until the Spartans rallied off four straight points to make it 21-17. UD would close out the first set soon after and carry that momentum over to the second set where they sprinted out to a 12-4 lead and continued to roll to a 25-15 set win. Set three was much like the first, back and fourth until the Storm went up 10-7. The Spartans then found their groove and rattled off nine straight points to grab a 16-10 lead. UD would not let Simpson get any closer than four points for the remainder of the matched and finished off the sweep with a 25-19 win in the third set.

UD had an assist on every single kill in the match, led by Alyssa Cose with 37 of the team's 42. Cose distributed the ball around to everyone as five different Spartans had six kills or more. Karrah Davis and Paige Harbort both led UD with nine kills, while Lauren Egnarski was right behind them with eight and Karah Wright with seven. Wright with her seven kills, added two blocks on the defensive end. Two different Spartans came up with at least 15 digs, Jenna Runde had 19 and Karrah Davis had 15 to go with her seven kills.

As a team, the Spartans averaged a hitting percentage of .244 and closed out the match with their best percentage of any set in the third set with a .286 hitting percentage.

The Spartans have a quick turnaround as they host Central College at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning
