Women's Basketball Downed by UW-Stout in Opener

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's basketball lost Friday night by a 68-84 margin in their season opener to a hot shooting UW-Stout squad which sank 12 three pointers in victory.
Senior Abbey Meyer led the Spartans offense and finished with 19 points in 25 minutes of action. Morgan Boer added 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. The Spartans outscored UW-Stout in the opening quarter 22-15 before losing the lead at halftime 37-33. UW-Stout out rebounded UD 54-37, the Spartans committed 24 turnovers while Stout turned it over 32 times. UD scored 24 points off the mistakes and Stout pumped in 29 points off UD miscues. Both teams finished with 28 points in the paint and Stout scored 19 second chance points.
The Spartans continue play against the host UW-Eau Claire tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
