Women's Lacrosse Stumbles at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team hit the road on Saturday and fell to North Central College, 22-7. 

Breann Tjaarda wasted no time adding to her team lead in goals, giving the Spartans a 1-0 lead in the game's fourth minute. However, North Central would respond by scoring seven unanswered goals in the following 12 minutes. 

After the seven straight goals from North Central, the Spartans put together a rally. UD would get Cassandra Berger, Tjaarda, Claire Carlson and Kori King to score five of the next seven goals to cut the deficit to 10-6 with 4:57 remaining in the first half. North Central would go on to outscore UD 12-1 after that point.

Breann Tjaarda scored the lone second half goal for the Spartans to give her a hat trick and move her season total to 38. Cassandra Berger and Claire Carlson both had two assists. Kaley Weir had 19 saves after facing 56 shots.

The Spartans hit the road for the final time this season on Tuesday when they travel to Augustana College. Game time against the Vikings is set for 7:00 p.m.
