Men's Basketball Hold Home Court Victory Over Kohawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball hung on to win in front of a large crowd on Tuesday night 90-85 over the Coe College Kohawks. The Kohawks chipped away at a double digit second half Spartans lead and cut it to a slim five point margin as time expired.

Peter Ragen would lead all scorers with 26 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Avery Butler finished with 22 points and a couple of highlight dunks to keep the Spartan faithful cheering. Lukas Harper came off the bench to add 15 points in just 21 minutes of action. Carter Stevens had nine points and Mitch Burger eight points. The Spartans sank 34-55 attempts from the field (61.8%), 13-24 from the three point area (54.2%), and sank 9-13 free throw attempts (69.2%). UD led by as many as 13 points in the second half and were out rebounded by the Kohawks 25-22. The chill in the outside air didn't slow down the hot hands on Jon Davison Court. Coe would end the night sinking 34-56 shot attempts (60.7%).

The Spartans (9-4 overall, 2-2 in the A-R-C) will play host to the Buena Vista University Beavers on Saturday, Jan. 11. The Beavers played at Loras on Tuesday and will repeat the road trip to Dubuque on Saturday. The Beavers (12-2 overall, 3-2 in A-R-C) won in overtime 92-88 over the Duhawks.
