DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men’s basketball team continued to roll, cracking the 100-point mark for the third time in five games in a 100-85 win over Millikin on Saturday night.

The Spartans built their largest lead of the first half at the 11:18 mark after a three pointer by Cade Daugherty put the Spartans up eight. The Big Blue from Millikin would then catch fire, quickly erasing the UD lead and building a seven-point lead of their own with 5:07 remaining in the first half. Two free throws from Mitch Burger right before halftime gave UD a 50-49 lead heading into halftime.

Neither team could appear to miss in the opening 20 minutes, with the Spartans shooting 56.7% in the half and the Big Blue making 62.5% of their shots from the field. Mitch Burger and Avery Butler carried UD in the first half, with Burger putting up 21 points and Butler with 12.

In the second half, it was only the Spartans that would stay hot from the field. UD would push their lead to 15 points before the second half was six minutes old and Millikin did not have another big run in them, never getting closer than 10 points again. In the second half, the Spartans held the Big Blue to just 36.8%, while UD shot 53.3% to finish the game at a staggering 55%.

Burger would go on to finish with a game-high 33 points on an efficient 11-14 shooting from the field, 5-7 from three and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe. Butler would close out the win with a double-double of his own, racking up 18 points and corralling a game-high 13 rebounds. Patrick Mayfield was the only other Spartan to reach double figures in scoring, as the freshman finished with 11 points.
