University of Dubuque to Hold 2024 Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance

DUBUQUE, Iowa - As we complete the journey through Lent and begin the Easter season, the University of Dubuque will hold Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Blades Chapel. The worship service will also be livestreamed on UD's YouTube channel.

"Jesus told His disciples - and so tells us - 'Do not let your hearts be troubled.' (John 14:1) Which is to say, when our hearts are troubled, they do not need to remain that way forever, for even with trials and in our grief, we do not grieve as if there is no hope," said Rev. James Gunn, DMin, Edwin B. Lindsay Chaplain and dean of chapel.

Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance is a moving tradition that provides an opportunity to recall our hope in the Resurrection and to remember those who have died this last year. The peace that Jesus gave was knowing that where Christ is, there we may also be.

The worship service will extend through the regular chapel time with classes delayed until 11:45 a.m.

During Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance, the University of Dubuque community will remember UD faculty, staff, students, alumni, trustees, friends, and family who are close to our hearts in our prayers and through our liturgy.
