University of Dubuque to Hold Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance

DUBUQUE, Iowa - As we journey through Lent towards Easter, the University of Dubuque will hold Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, in Blades Chapel. The worship service will also be livestreamed at on UD's YouTube channel.

"Jesus gave a strange promise, that in this world, we would have trouble. Indeed, we have known such trouble, whether through the death of loved ones or other forms of loss and trials. But in saying this, He also conveyed peace, declaring that He has overcome the world (John 16:33)," said Rev. James Gunn, DMin, Edwin B. Lindsay Chaplain and dean of chapel.

Convocation for Thanksgiving and Remembrance is a moving tradition that provides an opportunity to recall our hope in the Resurrection and to remember those who have died this last year. The peace that Jesus gave was knowing that where Christ is, there we may also be.

The worship service will extend through the regular chapel time with classes delayed until 11:45 a.m.

"During this Convocation, we will remember UD students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, and special friends who are close to our hearts. Let us as a University community remember them in our prayers and through our liturgy," Gunn said.
