Weather Forces Schedule Changes for Weekend Action

SOFTBALL
The University of Dubuque Softball team will now open the Iowa Conference Tournament on Saturday, May 4th at Noon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Spartans First Round game with Simpson College will be the third meeting between the two teams this season with UD winning both on April 6th. Due to the two day weather delay, the tournament will now be single elimination. The winner of the IIAC Tournament will receive the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Playoffs.

Five Iowa Conference teams are ranked in the most recent NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings with Central (#2), Coe (#4), Simpson (#5), Luther (#7), and Dubuque (#8) all earning a place in the May 2nd rankings.
MEN’S GOLF
Due to severe weather forecasted for Friday, May 3rd, the University of Dubuque Men’s Golf team will have to wait to begin Round Three of the Iowa Conference Championships. The Third Round will begin on Saturday, May 4th at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids. Round Four will now take place at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City on Sunday, May 5th.

MEN’S TENNIS
The sixth seeded University of Dubuque Men’s Tennis team will now play its First Round Iowa Conference Championships match against Central College on Friday night at 7:00 pm inside the Clark Racquet Center at Coe College. The 2013 IIAC Team Championships was originally scheduled to be played at Luther before weather forced the change of location. The winner of the IIAC Tournament will advance to the NCAA Regionals on May 11th.

BASEBALL
The University of Dubuque Baseball teams final regular season series at Simpson College originally scheduled for Friday, May 3rd and Saturday May 4th has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 5th and Monday, May 6th at UD. Games will start at 1:00 pm on both days. The Spartans are currently one game behind Luther and Simpson for the sixth and final spot in the Iowa Conference Tournament.

TRACK & FIELD
Due to inclement weather, The University of Dubuque Track and Field teams will not be able to compete at the University of Northern Iowa’s Messersmith Invitational on Friday, May 3rd. The Spartans will return to action for the 2013 IIAC Outdoor Track Championships on Thursday, May 9th through Saturday, May 11th at Loras College.
