Werkheiser Named IIAC Volleyball Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Wartburg College cross country runner Sammi Bruett and Loras College football player Nate Carrier have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 15, 2013. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in eight fall sports.

University of Dubuque senior Morgan Werkheiser (Stockton, Ill./Stockton) has been named IIAC Volleyball (Defensive) Performer of the Week. Werkheiser finished the week with 62-digs in 13 sets as the Spartans went 3-0. Her 28 digs against Augustana are the highest total for a Spartan this year. Werkheiser is currently fifth in the IIAC with 3.74 digs per set and 131 total. 

Werkheiser is the first Spartan to be named IIAC Volleyball (Defensive) Performer of the Week since Kristen Mortensen won on September 11th, 2011.
