Spartan Men Take 10th at Warrior Invitational

WEST ALLIS, WISCONSIN – The University of Dubuque Men’s Cross Country team competed at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Luther College on Saturday. The Spartans tied for 10th of 25 teams with 257 points. Payton Nevills (Savanna, Ill./West Carroll) was the top UD finisher in 19th place (of 234 runners). The race was held at Greenfield Park.
Nevills placed 19th with a time of 28:10.4 in the 8,000 meter race. Sophomores Javier Rodriguez (Waukegan, Ill./St. Joseph Academy), Matt Zittritsch (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt), and Jordan Murray (DeWitt, Iowa/Central DeWitt) finished 2-3-4 for the Spartans with only a 26 second difference in times between the three. Freshman Jonathan Berland (Lime Springs, Iowa/Crestwood) rounded out the scoring for UD in 104th place at 30:31.9.
