Spartans Rally in Second Half to Remain Perfect

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team continued where they left off before Thanksgiving break and remain perfect in non-conference play after a 75-64 victory over Clarke University on Saturday. The game was tied at halftime 35-35 before the Spartans broke the contest open in the final half and led by as many as 17 points. Gage Heffernan was a key Spartan as he helped UD offensively with 20 points and defensively with a game high 16 rebounds including 11 defensive boards. He led UD with five steals and four assists in the win.

Kain Arthofer finished with 11 points off the bench and Mitch Michaelis added 10 points. The physical contest swapped leads 10 times and the game was tied another eight times. UD sank 21-26 attempts at the free throw line (80.8%). Andre Norris was held to just seven points after being called twice early in the first half with fouls, foul trouble allowed him just 14 minutes of action. He entered the day averaging 19.2 points and 5.6 rebounds a game.

The Spartans defense forced the host Crusaders into committing 17 turnovers and a cold 4-21 shooting from beyond the three point arc (19%). Clarke sank 25-66 attempts from the field (37.9%) as the Spartans sank 24-59 (40.7%).
