Carter & Lillibridge Named Academic All-America

TOWSON, MARYLAND - University of Dubuque seniors Tyson Carter (Port Elgin, Ontario/Saugeen) and Doug Lillibridge (Bryon, Ill./Byron) have been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Carter earned First Team recognition while Lillibridge was a Second Team honoree. The Spartans have had eight All-Americans in the last three years.
Carter is a Biology and Pre-Professional Health Science double major with a 3.94 grade point average. He has been the Spartans long snapper for 41 games with 360 snaps without a bad snap (170-extra points, 150-punts, 40-field goals). Carter's Academic/Athletic resume includes being a Semifinalist for the National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy and an American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team nominee. He is also a three-time Academic All-Iowa Conference honoree. He was named First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2012 and 2013.
An Accounting and Business Admin double major with a 4.0 grade point averge; Lillibridge is a key contributor on special teams. As a punter, he has punted 43 times for 1539 yards (35.8 yard average). He has three punts over 50 yards with a long of 61 yards. He also put eight punts inside the 20 yard line with only two touchbacks. As the holder on kicks, the Spartans are 45-45 on extra points and 6-10 on field goals. He has also kicked off 16 times with four touchbacks. Lillibridge was named Academic All-Iowa Conference in 2013.
