LINCOLN, NEBRASKA/MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS - The University of Dubuque Track & Field team was busy competing in two meets over the weekend. The Spartans began the weekend with a Friday night meet at the Prairie Wolf Indoor Invitational at Nebraska Wesleyan, home of the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. UD then competed in the Monmouth Midwest Indoor Invitational at Monmouth College on Saturday. Rick Valcin (Catries, St. Lucia/Gros Islet) vaulted his way to the top of the D-III performance list on Friday night with a final clearance heigth of 4.95m (16' 2.75") in the pole vault. The Dubuque men finished sixth of eight teams at Monmouth. There were no team scores at Nebraska Wesleyan

In addition to his first place finish and school record setting performance in the pole vault, Valcin also finished third in the Men's 60m Dash. His time of 7.05 seconds was the 40th best time in Division-III and tied for fifth all-time at UD. His 60m Dash time is also the fastest 60m time in the Iowa Conference.

Antwone Lindsay (Gulfport, Miss./Gulfport) finished in third place with a top jump of 13.46m (44' 2.0") in the triple jump. His jump at Nebraska Wesleyan ranks third in the IIAC and 41st in D-III. 

The Spartans also had success in the pole vault at Monmouth with freshman Nicholas Kazmierczak (Lodi, Wis./Lodi) finishing second at 4.15m (13' 7.25"), the second best height in the Iowa Conference. Kazmierczak and Valcin give UD a 1-2 punch in the event that will continue to score points every week.

A pair of Spartans broke into the schools Top-10 List in the Men's 800m Run. Freshman Remmington Meggers (DeWitt, Iowa/Central DeWitt) led the way with a fourth place finish at 2:02.00, the fourth best time in school history. Senior Devante Miller (Markham, Ill./Bremen) ran the 10th best time in school history at 2:07.38.
