Comedian Paul Reiser To Bring Tales of Love, Life, and Relationships to Heritage Center

DUBUQUE, Iowa – University of Dubuque Heritage Center continues its fourth annual Live at Heritage Center Performing Arts Series with the comedy of Paul Reiser on Saturday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall. Well-known for an extensive career spanning decades in comedy, television, and film, Reiser returns to his stand-up comedy roots in this rare local appearance.

Actor, comedian, writer, and musician Paul Reiser has spent more than 30 years acting in Oscar and Emmy award-winning movies and TV shows. Not to abandon his roots in stand-up, the man once voted one of Comedy Central's "Top 100 Comedians of All Time," tours the country to perform in between projects.

Reiser co-created and starred in the critically acclaimed NBC series Mad About You, which garnered him multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, American Comedy Award, and Screen Actors Guild nominations. He also co-wrote the show’s theme song with Grammy-winning producer Don Was. Reiser recently earned acclaim for his supporting role in the Golden Globes and Academy Award-winning film Whiplash starring JK Simmons and Miles Teller. Reiser has appeared in numerous films including The Darkness, Concussion, Diner, Bye Bye Love, The Marrying Man, Aliens, and One Night At McCool’s.

The NY-bred and LA-based Reiser will make a number of appearances on screen and behind-the-scenes this year. Partnering with David Gordon Green, Reiser will produce There’s…. Johnny!, an eight episode series for Seeso scheduled to premiere in the fall. The duo worked together before, along with Steven Sodergergh, on the critically-acclaimed hit Amazon series Red Oaks, which is now in its second season. Additionally, Reiser has joined the cast of Netflix's Stranger Things for the series' highly anticipated second season where he will play Dr. Owens, a high-ranking member of the Department of Energy.

Reiser will also appear in a number of films this year including War on Everyone with Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena; The Book of Love with Jessica Biel and Jason Sudeikis; What's the Point? with Ed Helms, Amber Heard, and Mary Steenburgen; and The Little Hours with John C. Reilly and Aubrey Plaza, which was selected for this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Reiser’s book, Couplehood, has sold over two million copies and reached the number one spot on The New York Times bestseller list. Reiser’s other bestselling books are Babyhood and Familyhood.

Prior to the show, The OK Factor will perform a free pre-show concert from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the CyberCafé Knapp Stage. Olivia Diercks and Karla Dietmeyer, cellist and violinist of The OK Factor, perform organic, original music best described as classical-crossover.
