Men's Basketball Defeated in Las Vegas Hoopla Finale

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Dubuque Men’s basketball team dropped their second and final game of the Las Vegas Hoopla 76-92 to Presentation College, a NAIA school from South Dakota.

In a fast paced game, the Spartans jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead on the Saints after two three pointers from Jacob Mohlis and TJ Lake. The Saints quickly responded, taking a nine point lead at once before the Spartans cut the deficit and trailed 47-50 at halftime. In the middle of the second half, the Saints used a 18-4 run to pull away from the Spartans. After shooting 45% in the first half while hitting nine three pointers, UD only shot 29.3% from the field in the second half and made two of 21 three point attemps.

The University of Dubuque had four Spartans reach double figures in the scoring, led by Jalen Jackson who came off the bench for 17 points, while connecting on five three pointers. Jake Weber, produced his seventh double-double in nine games, by scoring 16 points and hauling in 13 rebounds, which was a game high. Jamaree Atwater and Jacob Mohlis were the other two Spartans to reach double figures scoring 12 and 10 points, respectivley. While not his usual self shooting, TJ Lake was still productive by dishing out four assists, grabbing two steals and four rebounds.

The Spartans are off until December 29th and 30th when they host College of St. Scholastica and Clarke University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on the 29th and 7:00 p.m. on the 30th.
