Box Score

St. Paul, Minn.- UD’s Robyn Wittkopf scored five goals on Saturday afternoon but it was not enough as the University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team fell to the Northwestern St. Paul Eagles, 10-15.

Northwestern St. Paul (5-1) jumped out to a very quick lead as they scored only 20 seconds into the match, however the Spartans (4-1) responded three minutes late to tie up the game. Every time it looked as if Northwestern St. Paul was going to pull away in the first half, UD always seemed to have an answer. After the Spartans cut their deficit to 4-6 with two minutes before half time, the Eagles squeaked in a goal with 25 second left before halftime to take a 7-4 lead into the break.

The Spartans went down 5-8 in the second half before putting together yet another rally to tie the game up yet again. UD scored those three goals to tie the game within a three minute span, started by a goal from Alora Esparza. After that point, the Eagles built another lead and the Spartans could not quite rally again.

UD was led by senior, Robyn Wittkopf, who found the back of the net five times on seven shots and also assisted on two other UD goals. Freshman Claire Carlson had yet another multi-goal game as she scored three goals to move her team leading season total to 19 goals in the first give games.

The Spartans return to the field Sunday afternoon for another game in St. Paul, taking on Hamline University at 11:00 a.m.
