Tickets Available for Christmas at Heritage Center

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque will present its fourth annual Christmas at Heritage Center onFriday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. This year’s celebration, titled Salvation Unto Us Has Come, will take place in John and Alice Butler Hall.

TICKETS:        $10 for adults; $5 for students; UD faculty/staff/students free of charge – limit of two free tickets per person

Christmas at Heritage Center will feature the talents of the UD Concert Choir (director Dr. Charles Barland, head of the Department of Fine and Performing arts and professor of music), UD Wind Ensemble (conductor Dr. Nicholas Bratcher, director of instrumental music and associate professor of music), and UD Chamber Singers (director Kristen Eby, adjunct music faculty). Featured will be narrator Rev. Dr. Timothy Slemmons, UD Theological Seminary associate professor of homiletics and worship, as well as musical contributions by Chicago harpist Nichole Luchs and the Dubuque Chorale Children’s Choir (director Karmella Sellers).

Titled Salvation Unto Us Has Come, the concert will follow a Christmas narrative authored and assembled by Slemmons. The narrative correlates directly with choral texts and instrumental pieces chosen to tell the story of Christ’s birth in a seamless performance. Selections will include new arrangements of holiday favorites such as “O Holy Night,” “Once in Royal David’s City,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” Attendees are encouraged to come early to enjoy live harp music in the lobby beginning at 6:30 p.m. A light reception will follow the performance.

Free tickets reserved in advance but still remaining at Will Call are subject to release 15 minutes prior to the performance.

In the case of inclement weather, the concert snow date is Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2:00 p.m.
