DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque will celebrate Heritage Center’s fifth anniversary with a plethora of acts including a famous alumnus, an actor’s folk band, a Grammy-winning a cappella gospel music sextet, a touring Broadway show, and much more as part of the 2017-18 Live at Heritage Center Performing Arts Series.

“Heritage Center is proud to quickly have become a cornerstone of the tri-state area’s cultural and artistic landscape, serving well over 100,000 patrons in its first four years, 30,000 of which were pre-K through 12th grade students attending the center’s SchoolBus Performance Series,” said Thomas Robbins, executive director of Heritage Center. “Our fifth anniversary is sure to break annual attendance records with performers like Tony Danza, Jeff Daniels and the Ben Daniels Band, Take 6, and Amazing Grace: A New Broadway Musical, our first-ever touring Broadway show presentation.”

The 2017-18 season boasts 21 guest artist performances selected from today’s international touring circuit as well as the fifth annual Christmas at Heritage Center. Performances will be held in Heritage’s John and Alice Butler Hall, except for a new intimate theater series scheduled to occur in the facility’s smaller black box venue, Babka Theatre.

Tony Danza (C’72, HON’04) will return to his alma mater and make his debut appearance on the Butler Hall stage in conjunction with UD’s Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 20. Best known for his starring roles on Taxi and Who’s The Boss, Danza has established himself as a song and dance man who received rave reviews for his performance in the hit Broadway musical Honeymoon In Vegas. His performance, Tony Danza: Standards & Stories, will combine timeless music with wit, charm, storytelling, and a dash of soft shoe and ukulele performances. Danza will be accompanied by a four-piece band.

“It will be wonderful having our talented and esteemed alum Tony Danza showcasing his versatile performance abilities as part of his 45th reunion and our fifth anniversary season,” Robbins said. “This will be Tony’s debut on the Heritage stage – sure to be a tour-de-force not to be missed.”
