Women's Basketball Falls on Road to Blue Devils

Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women’s basketball team dropped their non-conference battle against UW-Stout on Saturday afternoon, 59-72.

After an even first half in which the Spartans only trailed the Blue Devils by four points heading into halftime, the Blue Devils used a 19-6 third quarter to pull away from the Spartans. UD shot 40% from the field in the first half and 35.9% in the second but missed on all five three point attempts in the second half. The Spartans also went 14-18 from the free throw line for 77.8%, which was almost 10% better than the Blue Devils.

Emily Brinker led all scorers with 21 points on the afternoon. Brinker also grabbed 12 rebounds to go with her 31 points for a double-double, while also collecting four blocks and two steals in 21 minutes of action. Cece Pope provided a spark off the bench for UD as she scored eight points and hauled in 11 rebounds. Abbey Meyer was also an active part of the offense has she totaled nine points and a team high four assists.

The Spartans back at home on Wednesday for a game against UW-La Crosse. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in the Stoltz Sports Center.
