Spartans of UD highlights what makes University of Dubuque special – the people who live, work, and study on campus. Janell Schueller, operations coordinator in the Office of Student Financial Planning, has helped students for a little over two years on campus find a path that best helps their needs.

1. Why were you interested in working at the University of Dubuque?

“I had heard so many good things about the University of Dubuque and its facilities. It’s a beautiful campus with so many opportunities.”

2. What do you enjoy most about your role as operations coordinator in the Office of Student Financial Planning?

“I enjoy the challenges that working with the Office of Student Financial Planning gives me. Some days are a little more challenging than others, but I work with such great people that help me through those challenges. It’s also very rewarding when I can help the students with what their next steps should be. I try to look at each student as if they were one of my own children.”

3. What should students know about the Office of Student Financial Planning?

“The one thing that I would like everyone to know about the Office of Student Financial Planning is that we are here for you! We try to look at each unique situation for a path that best helps your needs.”

4. What piece of advice would you like to share with students?

“Breathe, relax, and enjoy every minute. Moving out on your own and the college experience can be overwhelming and scary. Remember you can always ask questions. Like my mother told me, ‘There’s no such thing as a stupid question!’”

5. Do you have a favorite spot on campus? Where?

“The University of Dubuque has a beautiful campus overall! I enjoy going for walks around campus when I have the time.”
