APEX: Celebration of Student Scholarship & Creativity

Apex: Celebration of Student Scholarship and Creativity celebrates its fourth year this spring. The annual University of Dubuque event recognizes undergraduate student research, service learning, and creativity.

Around 300 students will present over 130 posters and other presentations during the three-day event held Tuesday, April 26, through Thursday, April 28, at various locations inside Heritage Center.

Activities are free and open to the public.

Undergraduate students from all academic disciplines were invited to participate. Apex in the Classroom and Community will showcase student work completed for a class, while Apex in the Academy will feature students who have presented at conferences, published scholarly or creative work, been invited to exhibit or read art, acted in performances, or performed major service projects.

Laura Kramer (C’11), assistant producer at LBC radio in London and culture writer for The Upcoming, will present a keynote titled “Movers and Mentors: From Dubuque to London.”

Kramer recently interviewed actors Neel Sethi and Sir Ben Kingsley, from “The Jungle Book,” at the film’s European premiere. Before her current career, Kramer worked on award-winning documentaries for international broadcasters such as PBS FRONTLINE, BBC and Al Jazeera. Her most recent film, “ISIS in Afghanistan,” in which she was an assistant producer, is nominated for a 2016 Peabody Award.
