The University of Dubuque will be hosting the 2013 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 23-24 on the A. Y. McDonald Track in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center.
IIAC Tourney Champions, Spartans Make NCAA Tournament Field

The University of Dubuque men's basketball captured it's first Iowa Conference Tournament Championship on Sunday, Feb. 24 in front of the largest crowd the Spartans have played in front of in Stoltz Sports Center since it's renovation. UD trailed by six points to the Wartburg College Knights in the opening half 27-33. The Spartans turned the scoring on and out scored the Knights in the second half 46-27 to capture the contest 73-60.

Spartan Women Place 6th at IIAC Indoor Track Championships

The University of Dubuque Track & Field program spent the weekend of February 23rd and 24th hosting the 2013 Iowa Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on A.Y. McDonald Track inside the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center. The men’s team finished with an all-time UD best 107 points in route to a third place finish. The Dubuque women’s team scored 38.5 points and finished in sixth place, the best finish in school history.
Spartans Finish 1-3 at Finlandia Dome Tournament

The University of Dubuque Softball team began the 2013 season on the road at the Finlandia Dome Tournament. UD opened the season on Saturday, February 23rd with a season opening loss to Carroll University before rallying in the second game to beat UW-Superior. Dubuque went 0-2 on February 24th with losses to UW-Oshkosh and UW-River Falls to finish the road trip with a 1-3 record.
Whiting Sets Scoring Mark in Championship Game Loss

The University of Dubuque Women’s Basketball teams run towards an Iowa Conference Tournament Championship came to an end on Sunday night with a 79-68 loss at #12 Simpson College (25-2). Senior Mollie Whiting set school records for points in a season (667) and points in a career (1737). As a team, UD also set a new school record with 340 steals. UD finishes the 2012-13 season with a 20-8 record.
Hookstead Named IIAC Performer of the Week

University of Dubuque senior Miles Hookstead has been named IIAC Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week. Hookstead helped the Spartans to their first Iowa Conference Tournament Championship with his first double-double of the year against Wartburg.
Spartan Men Place Third at IIAC Championships

The University of Dubuque men’s team finished with an all-time UD best 107 points in route to a third place finish. The Dubuque women’s team scored 38.5 points and finished in sixth place, the best finish in school history. The Wartburg College women and Central College men took home the team titles. The IIAC Indoor Championships began in 2003.

Spartans Headed to UW-Whitewater for NCAA DIII Championships

The University of Dubuque Men’s Basketball team is headed to UW-Whitewater for a first round match-up with the defending NCAA Division III Champion Warhawks on Saturday, March 2nd. Game time is 3:00 pm. The Spartans earned a spot in the NCAA Championships by winning the Iowa Conference Tournament.
Trio of Spartans Named All-Iowa Conference

The Spartans landed three student-athletes on the 2013 All-Iowa Conference teams. Chris Frazier was named First Team while Mitch Michaelis and Andre Norris made the Second Team.

Spartans Ready for Regionals

The University of Dubuque Wrestling team will complete in the NCAA DIII Central Region Championships on Saturday, March 2 at the Five Flags Center. The first round matches begin at 9:00 am. At the end of the weekend, the Top 3 finishers in each weight class will have their ticket punched to the NCAA DIII Championships on March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 2013 marks the first year under the new regional format for deciding championship qualifiers.

The University of Dubuque Wrestling team will be well represented at the NCAA Division III National Championships with five Spartans qualifying with top three finishes at the Central Region Championships. UD placed third overall with 110.5 team points. The NCAA DIII Championships will take place March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

The University of Dubuque men's basketball season came to an abrupt end on Saturday against the returning NCAA Division III Champions of UW-Whitewater. Despite the 58-42 loss, the Spartans finish the season with a school record 22 wins!

The Young Adult (YA) Book Club, in its third year of existence, is attracting more readers to the genre, and features author chats as a regular part of its discussion groups.
Spartans Suffer Loss in First Ever Varsity Lacrosse Match

The University of Dubuque Women's Lacrosse played their first game in school history on Saturday, March 9th but lost 16-4 to Fontbonne University (1-1). The young Spartans team scored the games final three goals to close out the teams first action of the season.
Softball on Spring Break in Florida

The University of Dubuque softball team is anxious to continue their season this week in the warm sunshine of Florida over spring break. The Spartans leave by charter bus on Friday, March 15 and will play 10 games while in Clermont, Florida at the 2013 National Training Center Spring Games.
Borah Scores Three Goals in Loss

The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team battled light snow flurries and wind on Tuesday night while playing on the road, but it was the host Benedictine University which captured the match-up 19-4. UD is now 0-2 in their first season of action.
NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships Info

The University of Dubuque Wrestling team is gearing up for the NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Spartans qualified a school record five individuals for the championships with their performances at the 2013 Central Region Championships. First Round matches from the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena begin at 11:00 am.
Honors Continue for Whiting

University of Dubuque Women’s Basketball student-athlete Mollie Whiting earned First Team D3hoops.com All-West Region. In addition, Whiting was named Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com. Whiting leads Division III with 262 field goals made and 667 points scored.
NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans

The NCAA Division III National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) is pleased to announce their 2012-13 Scholar All-American Team. The Spartans earned two Scholar All-Americans who have earned the prestigious honor: Derek Mizaur (Jr., Sherrad, Ill./Sherrard HS) and teammate Chris Sokol (Sr., Lodi, Wis./Lodi HS).

The University of Dubuque Baseball team escaped the snow and cold weather outside with two games inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome against Hamline University on Monday night. The Spartans out hit the Pipers in game one but lost 2-1. UD lost in game two 8-1.
Spartans Fall to #5 St. Thomas

The University of Dubuque Baseball team went toe-to-toe with one of the nation’s best Division III programs on Tuesday afternoon in the Metrodome. The Spartans lost both games of the doubleheader to #5 St. Thomas by one run. In the opener, UD lost 3-2 followed by a 4-3 loss in game two.

The University of Dubuque Baseball team picked up its first wins of the season on Tuesday morning inside the Metrodome. The Spartan bats awoke in game one with an 11-1 win over Bethany Lutheran. UD rallied late in game two to win 2-1.
