Honors Continue for Whiting

University of Dubuque Women’s Basketball student-athlete Mollie Whiting earned First Team D3hoops.com All-West Region. In addition, Whiting was named Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com. Whiting leads Division III with 262 field goals made and 667 points scored.

NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans

The NCAA Division III National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) is pleased to announce their 2012-13 Scholar All-American Team. The Spartans earned two Scholar All-Americans who have earned the prestigious honor: Derek Mizaur (Jr., Sherrad, Ill./Sherrard HS) and teammate Chris Sokol (Sr., Lodi, Wis./Lodi HS).

The University of Dubuque Baseball team escaped the snow and cold weather outside with two games inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome against Hamline University on Monday night. The Spartans out hit the Pipers in game one but lost 2-1. UD lost in game two 8-1.

Spartans Fall to #5 St. Thomas

The University of Dubuque Baseball team went toe-to-toe with one of the nation’s best Division III programs on Tuesday afternoon in the Metrodome. The Spartans lost both games of the doubleheader to #5 St. Thomas by one run. In the opener, UD lost 3-2 followed by a 4-3 loss in game two.

The University of Dubuque Baseball team picked up its first wins of the season on Tuesday morning inside the Metrodome. The Spartan bats awoke in game one with an 11-1 win over Bethany Lutheran. UD rallied late in game two to win 2-1.

Almost Free: African Americans in Dubuque 1830-1900

On Thursday, April 4, the University of Dubuque welcomes Dr. David Brodnax, Sr., who will deliver a lecture titled Almost Free: African Americans in Dubuque, 1830-1900. The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles and Romona Myers Center Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

On Thursday, April 4, Jesse Bach, executive director of The Imagine Foundation, will speak on the topic of human rights violations, and how this modern-day slavery can be stopped. His lecture will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Blades Chapel on the University of Dubuque campus.

Meyer Named IIAC Female Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that University of Dubuque softball player Amber Meyer has been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 24, 2013. In eight games last week, Meyer hit .583 (14-24) with two homeruns, eight runs scored, eight runs batted in, and stole five bases.
