Track & Field at IIAC Outdoor Championships

The University of Dubuque Track and Field teams will be competing at the 2013 Iowa Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend. The Spartans will not have to travel far for the IIAC Championships with Loras hosting this year. During the 2013 Indoor Championships, the men's team finished in third place while the women's team tied for sixth.

Meyer Named NFCA All-Region

University of Dubuque junior Amber Meyer was selected Third Team All-Midwest Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Meyer, a First Team All-Iowa Conference selection, led the Spartans in hits, runs, RBI, home runs, total bases, walks, steals, batting average, on base percentage, and slugging percentage.
Three School Records Fall at IIAC Championships

The University of Dubuque Track and Field teams finished the first day of the 2013 Iowa Conference Championships with four student-athletes earning all-conference honors and setting three new school records. The UD men's team is in third place with 45.50 points while the Spartan women are in fifth with 19 points. The action continues on Saturday morning at Loras College with field events at 10:00 am.
Spartans to Host IIAC Baseball Tournament

The University of Dubuque will be the host school for the 2013 Iowa Conference Baseball Tournament to be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids on May 9-11. The Top-6 finishers in league play will compete in the double elimination tournament with the winner receiving the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Regional Championships.

Athletics Awards Banquet

The University of Dubuque Athletic Department celebrated the 2013 Senior Student-Athletes at on Sunday, May 5th with its Senior Awards Banquet. Top awards handed out were Spartan Academic Achievement Award, Spartan Academic Athlete Excellence Award, Athlete of the Year, and Wendt Character Athlete Award.
Spartans Claim Two IIAC Titles, 14 Named All-IIAC

The University of Dubuque Track and Field teams finished the 2013 Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships with 17 Spartans earning all-conference honors including Men’s 100m Dash Champion Corey Broussard and the Men’s 4x100m Relay team also taking first place. Head Coach Chad Gunnelson was named Men’s Co-Coach of the Year. The Spartans men’s team finished fourth overall with 117 points. The UD women’s team took sixth place with 50 points.
