The University of Dubuque is pleased to announce the expansion of its accelerated adult degree program – LIFE (Learning Institute for Fulfillment and Engagement) – in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The University’s  LIFE program offers accelerated baccalaureate and master’s degree programs for adult learners.

The University’s Cedar Rapids Campus, located at 296 Blairs Ferry Road NE, will hold an information session on Tuesday, August 6, at 5:30 p.m. hosted by the Director of LIFE Admission – Cedar Rapids, Todd Rogers.

“The University of Dubuque LIFE program makes earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree achievable, convenient, and affordable for adults” said President Jeffrey F. Bullock. “Our changing world needs people who are ready to realize opportunities that open before them, who know the privilege of an education, and who are ready to take on the responsibility of making a difference in the world around them.  We believe LIFE can help to meet that critical need.”

Geared to adult learners age 23 and over, the UD LIFE program is designed to offer a flexible format, allowing students to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees.  Offering classes on weekday evenings as well as online, the program will help adults balance their studies, career, and family life.

The design and academic content of the program is ideal for adult learners.  Scheduled in nine, five-week blocks, classes will meet once per week for 3 hours.  Upon acceptance into UD’s Cedar Rapids Campus LIFE program, individuals will meet with the Director of LIFE Admission – Cedar Rapids, Todd Rogers, to discuss educational goals, and to determine how past college and/or work experience may apply toward credit in a degree program.  Once students are registered, personalized academic advising with the Director of the LIFE Program, Dr. David Hennessy, is provided for the duration of a student’s academic program.

“I have met with prospective LIFE students and with a number of business partners in Cedar Rapids,” commented Todd Rogers.  “I look forward to working with prospective students to help them realize their hopes and achieve personal, educational goals.”

To further help with the unique needs of adult learners, childcare and tutoring are available for all LIFE students.

Financial aid is available to eligible students.  Registration for a minimum of half-time credits per term is required for the federal Stafford Loan Program, and a minimum of three credit hours is required for the federal Pell Grant and Iowa Tuition Grant.  Veteran’s benefits, including educational tuition assistance, GI Bill, Post 9/11 GI Bill (Yellow Ribbon), and other chapters, are certified by the University of Dubuque Registrar’s Office.
