RESULTS: 2014 Grinnell Invite

GRINNELL, IOWA - The University of Dubuque Women's Track & Field team once again broke two school records on Saturday at the Grinell College Invitational. The two records had stood for exactly one week as Brenda Breimon (Oconomowoc, Wis./Slinger) and Taylor Cary (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) each broke their own records set last week at Cornell. UD finished sixth as a team.

Breimon's record setting performance in the pole vault earned her a first place finish, besting second place by 0.46m. Her height of 3.36m (11' 0.25") currently sits second in the Iowa Conference and 44th in Division-III. Cary knocked 0.05 seconds off her own school record in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.40 seconds, good for second place.

The Spartans finished second and third in the 200m Dash with Alexis Higgins (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) running the 10th fastest time in UD history at 27.68 seconds. Brittany Burns (Beloit, Wis./Beloit Memorial) was on Higgins heals at 27.90. Higgins also finished fourth in the high jump clearing 1.53m (5 feet).

Nickolette McKenzie (Hoffman Estates, Ill./William Fremd) was third in the triple jump at 10.55m (34' 7.5"). The UD 4x200m Relay team of McKenzie, Rachael Busjahn (Sobieski, Wis./Pulaski), Amanda Zbilski (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Huntley), and Chantel Christiansen (Anamosa, Iowa/Anamosa) finished third at 1:50.93.
