University of Dubuque 9th Annual Jim Fox Spartan Open

Jim Fox was a 1963 graduate of University of Dubuque and won an IIAC title his senior season for the Spartans. The well-known Fox continued his interest in the sport of wrestling long after he graduated. He officiated the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Iowa City and many other Big 10 wrestling meets around the Midwest.
 
In front of a capacity crowd in Stoltz Sports Center in 2005, the University announced this tournament would be officially named the Jim Fox Spartan Open beginning in 2006. Fox resides in Bettendorf, Iowa, with his wife of over 50 years.
