BOX SCORE
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Senior Judy Borah scored the game's first and last goals and assisted on a key goal in a back-and-forth affair that saw the University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team defeat Aurora University (Ill.), 13-12, on Monday afternoon.

With the score tied up at 10-10 at the 14:58 mark, Borah converted her fourth goal of the game on a free-position shot to put the UD (8-4, 1-2 CCIW) up 11-10 with 14:08 to go. Aurora (6-6, 3-1 MWLC) answered with a pair of goals, including one by Kenny Hughes, who totaled a game-high six goals for Aurora. Facing a 12-11 deficit with the clock reading 6:23, Alora Esparza netted her third and final goal of the game off a Borah assist. Borah broke the tie with the game winner at the 5:35 mark. A simple game of keep away in the final minute sealed the deal.

It was a crucial win for UD after defeating an Aurora team that came in with a three-game winning streak and fell to North Central (Ill.), 13-14, in overtime earlier in the year.

Borah, who became UD's leading scorer (29 goals) after today's effort, was the difference in a game where neither team could pull away despite a trio of runs throughout the game. No matter how many goals were scored by one team, the other was quick to match.

In the opening minutes, it was all UD after seizing the 4-1 advantage less than eight minutes in. Aurora answered the call by scoring six of the last eight goals to secure the 7-6 lead at the half. Aurora's Hughes scored at will and was responsible for four, first-half goals.

UD utilized 33 Aurora fouls and attempted a season-high 17 free position shots, while converting six of them. Borah was the FPS catalyst after scoring on three of her five goals from the free position. Like the final score, statistics were a close bout as UD won the shot battle, 35-28, and ground ball game, 22-16, and turnover margin, 19-24.

Robyn Wittkopf was UD's other multi-goal scorer after netting two while Jadyn Franklin scored for the second straight game in her first start of the year.

UD avenged a 12-6 loss at the hands of Aurora from a year ago and tied the all-time series up at 1-1.

UD has already doubled its win total from a year ago and are winner of six of their last eight.

The Spartans take on Elmhurst College (6-5, 0-1 CCIW) in their home finale this Wednesday, April 15 at 5:00 p.m.
