Atwater Collects First IIAC Title Thanks to Massive PR

STORM LAKE, Iowa – Sophomore Tanasha Atwater won her first career indoor Iowa Conference shot put title with a 10”+ personal record to lead the University of Dubuque women’s track and field team to a third-place standing after day one of the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships on Friday afternoon.

Atwater and the throwers earned a combined 22 points in the shot put to give the Spartans 39 points after day one. Wartburg leads with 76 points while Loras sits in second at 52 points.

Only nine events competed in day one as the meet concludes on Saturday.

The Davenport, Iowa native reset her own school record with a shot put toss of 14.09m/46-2.75 to win her eighth straight throwing event and 13 of 15 overall this indoor season. Senior Nicole Forson, sophomore Lauren Egnarski, and freshman Keely Glenn placed four, five, and six to round out a dominant showing. All four will compete in the weight throw held tomorrow, Saturday, February 27.

Junior Amanda Zbilski placed runner-up in the pole vault (3.16m/10-4.25) for her first individual All-Iowa Conference indoor performance.
