Official USTFCCCA release
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Led by Blaze Murfin, Isaiah Ellis, and Tanasha Atwater, who were honored in two events each, the University of Dubuque track and field teams saw nine Spartans named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Central Region team.

Of the six men and three women Spartans named All-Central Region, three men and all three women were Iowa Conference champions in their respective events. Their IIAC titles went hand-in-hand with All-Region selections as the student-athlete must be ranked in the Top-5 regionally in individual events and Top-3 in relays.

Headlining the men were Division III Outdoor National Championship qualifiers, Iowa Conference discus champion, Alex Link, and Iowa Conference Field MVP, Blaze Murfin, in the discus. The pair ranks sixth and 20th in the nation, respectively. Freshman sprinter and IIAC 200m champion, Isaiah Ellis, was named in both the 200m and 4x100m relay.

On the women’s side, a pair of national qualifiers and IIAC Champions in Tanasha Atwater (shot put and hammer throw) and Fabiola Ortiz (3000m steeplechase) were honored. Freshman standout and IIAC 400m hurdle champion, Isabella Solis, rounded out the Spartan trio.
