Schirmers Named CCIW Offensive Player of the Week

Senior Bridget Schirmers won her first career CCIW Player of the Week honor after helping the Spartans to a trio of victories last week.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Senior attacker and the University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team’s all-time leading scorer, Bridget Schirmers, totaled 11 goals in trio of victories last week to earn the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin’s women’s lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.

Schirmers was at her best after scoring four goals in a tense, 10-4, win over Division II Rockhurst on April 1. The senior netted three of UD’s final four goals in the last 15 minutes of the game, including the 10th and final goal with 4:59 to play.

The Coon Rapids, Minn. native finished with a season-high five goals in 21-4 rout of Cornell on March 30, including four in a first half that saw the Spartans go up 15-1. Schirmers notched two goals in 16-8 win over Benedictine (Ill.) to help the Spartans win their seventh straight.

Schirmers now has 22 goals and six assists on 37 shots this season. She is the Spartans all-time leading goal scorer with 115 career goals thus far.
