Women's Lacrosse Dominate Duhawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse struck first and often in another productive offensive outing by beating the Loras College Duhawks 19-5. The Spartans improved to 9-2 overall after out shooting the host Duhawks 32-17. UD led in draw controls 14-11 and forced the Duhawks into committing 26 turnovers.
The Spartans scored the first two goals and would lead after the first half 10-4 and would finish the second half of play out scoring the Duhawks 9-1 to capture the second consecutive victory over the Duhawks.
Bridget Schirmers led the Spartans with six goals and three assists after nine shots. Teammate Kelly Wetherald trailed with five goals and three assists and six shots. Robin Wittkopf added four goals in five shots. UD finished the evening with nineteen goals and 14 assists.
Kaley Weir captured the win in the goal and stopped seven shots, three in the first half and four in the second. UD was 2-2 in free position shots.
