Men's Soccer Shoot Past Monmouth 6-0

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The 2016 University of Dubuque men’s soccer team (1-0) kicked their season off with a 6-0 victory over Monmouth College (0-1). 

The Spartans dominated right from opening kick scoring five first half goals.  Malcom Philips got the scoring started early with his first goal of the season only two minutes into the game.  Senior midfield, Felipe Sanchez, lead the attack with two goals on the night, both coming in the first half.

Gonzalo Hernandez may not have scored but he made his presence known by dishing out two assist, one to Matheus Santos and the other to the Felipe Sanchez on his first goal of the night.  Dubuque goalkeeper, Luis Gullardo, was solid in the net recording the shutout while grabbing two saves.
