Women's Lacrosse Moves to 3-0 on Season

DUBUQUE, Iowa- On a windy afternoon at Oyen Field, the University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team routed the Olivet College Comets, 14-2 behind four goals from Breann Tjaarda.

The Spartans did not waste any time as Claire Carlson scored nine seconds into the game to give the Spartans a 1-0, a lead that they would hold for the entire game. UD put the game out of reach early by scoring four goals in the first 8:02 of action. The Spartans would go on to put up 10 goals in the first half before the pace slowed down in the second half.

Breann Tjaarda led the Spartans with four goals on eight shots. Claire Carlson continues to be on a tear in her freshman season as she scored three more goals today and now has 13 goals for the season. Senior, Robyn Wittkopf also found the back of the net on all three of her shot attempts today and is now fourth on the team with seven goals this season. UD is now averaging 14.3 goals per game and have not scored less than 14 goals in any of their three games.

The Spartans return to action on Thursday, March 9th, as they host Cornell College at 5:00 p.m. at Oyen Field.
