2018 NCAA DIII Wrestling Lower Midwest Region Day 1

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque wrestling capped off day one of the 2018 NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional with two in the semifinals for the Spartans. UD ended the opening day of the two day regional championship with 26.5 points.

The Spartans Quincy Kalkbrenner (157 lbs.) won by riding time point in the quarterfinals by a 9-8 score to reach Sunday's semifinals and improved to 15-4 overall. Teammate Ethan Cain joins Kalkbrenner in the semifinals after he swept through Saturday with back-to-back falls. He won in a fall in 1:50 over Ty`korious Walker (Huntingdon College) and won by fall in 1:52 over Andrew Holladay (Coe College). He leads the Spartans with 14 falls this season and improved to 22-5 overall.
