Cross Country Runs at Principia Cowbell Invite

ELSAH, Ill. - The University of Dubuque cross country teams traveled to Elsah, Illinois on Saturday to partake in the 2017 Principia Cowbell (Pre-National) Meet.

The women's team finished in 29th place with a total time of 2:11:14.32 and an average of 26:14.87. Jade Romagna paced the Spartans with a time of 25:08.47. Jaclyn Roeder crossed the finish line next for UD in 25:52.82. Junior Abigail Ray was the 233rd runner to finish with a time of 26:15.05. The fourth through sixth runners for the Spartans all finished within 22 seconds on each other. Isabella Mazzanti was the fourth in 26:53.38, Jeather Muntz in 27:04.60 and Megan Ely rounded out the trio in 27:15.8.

On the men's side, UD battled stiff competion and finished in 33rd. All five of UD's runners on Saturday finsihed within a 40 second window. Dalton Moore led the way for the Spartans as he completed his race in 29:08:65. Joseph Tobin, Brandon Sindt and Jacob Heiter finished next for UD with times of 29:16.43, 29:24.12 and 29:34.22, respectively. Those four top finishers for UD are all sophomores. Joel Avila rounded out the day for the Spartans, not finishing far behind the other four in 29:48.44.

The Spartans are off next weekend before heading to Waverly, Iowa on October 28th to participate in the Iowa Conference Championships.
