Men's Basketball Blows Out North Central University

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Dubuque men’s basketball team finished off their weekend road trip in St. Paul with a 90-55, dominating win over North Central University and moved to 3-0 this season.

Four different Spartans reach double figure points on Saturday afternoon, led by Jamaree Atwater with 20 points on an efficient 8-10 shooting from the field and 4-5 from beyond the arch. Dakota Soenksen and Peter Ragen both shot 4-5 from the field, Soenksen finished with 14 points and Ragen had 11. TJ Lake played 26 minutes and recorded 18 points.

As a team, the Spartans shot 31 of 71 (43.7%) from the field against North Central and a toasty 14-31 (45.2%) from three. UD forced the Rams into 16 turnovers and turned those 16 turnovers into 25 points. There was not much a of a drop-off when the Spartans bench came in as the bench players scored 42 points.

The only time the Spartans trailed in the contest was early on when the score was 3-1 in favor of North Central. After a three pointer from the Rams to make it 19-15 with 8:53 remaining in the first half, the Spartans went on a 15-0 run over the next five minutes to blow the game wide open. The Rams cut that deficit to 10 points right at the beginning of the second half, but the Spartans followed that with a 10-0 to make it a 20 point lead and never looked back.

The Spartans are back in action for their first home contest of the season on Tuesday, November 21st, at 7:00 p.m. in the Stoltz Sports Center.
