Men's Golf Opens Spring Season

GALESBURG, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's golf team opened their spring season on Friday afternoon and are tied for first place after the opening round of the Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invite.
The Spartans shot an opening round 303 as a team and share the lead with Illinois Central College. Edgewood College and Black Hawk Community College are both tied for third place after shooting a 307.
Jordan Elliot leads the Spartans after shooting a first round score of 74 to sit tied for sixth place in the individual standings. Garvin Paper joins Elliot in the top 10, finishing with a 75 and tied for 10th. Anthony Mendoza and Brady Ellis both broke the the 80 mark in their first round of the season, finishing with scores of 76 and 78, respectively. Kane Hyde wrapped up the UD group with an 83.
The second and final round of the Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invite will take place on Saturday.
