Men's Lacrosse Drops CCIW Opener

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team began College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play with a 27-7 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University. 

Illinois found the back of the net before the game was two minutes and would control the game from start to finish. The Titans would go on to score eight first quarter goals and the game's first 13 goals. Michael Julius got the Spartans on the board five minutes into the second quarter with his first of four goals on the night. Julius would add another late in the quarter to send the Spartans into halftime trailing 18-2. 

UD ended the game on a positive note, scoring three of the game's final four goals. Michael Julius capped off the late surge with a goal with six seconds remaining.

Michael Jango was the only other Spartan to join Julius in the scoring column, recording two goals of his own. With their goals tonight, Jango and Julius have now scored a combined 31 goals this season, with Julius leading the team with 18. UD goalie Kyle Mullins was under attack but still managed to come up with 21 saves.

The Spartans will look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Angola, Indiana to take on Trine University at 1:00 p.m EDT.
