Men's Lacrosse Routs Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Dubuque men’s lacrosse team started their three game road trip with a 12-6 win over Fontbonne University.

After 10 minutes of scoreless action to begin the game, the Spartans scored two goals in 1:09 late in the first quarter to go ahead 2-0 after the first frame.  UD scored their only man advantage goal of the game in the second quarter when Davis Behrns found the back of the net off of an assist from Michael Julius.

After a slow third quarter in which UD was outscored 2-1, the Spartans exploded in the fourth quarter, scoring six goals in the period to blow open the game. Tanner Weis got hot in the fourth quarter and scored all four of his goals during the quarter. Weis scored his four goals on just eight shots and added one assists.

Michael Jango joined Weis with four goals and one assist on the night. Freshman Davis Behrns added two goals and Noah Coaleman added one goal to round out the scoring for the Spartans.

UD goalkeeper, Kyle Mullins recorded 14 saves on 18 shots for the Spartans in 56:22 of action in the net. The Spartans converted 17-23 clears while Fontbonne converted 1318. UD also controlled the faceoff circle, winning 12-20.

UD continues the road trip on Sunday when they travel to Hendrix College at 4:00 p.m.
