LISLE, Ill. – The University of Dubuque men’s lacrosse team dropped to 1-1 on the season after losing their first road contest of the season to Benedictine University, 14-3.

UD and Benedictine spent the first ten minutes of the game in a defensive battle before Benedictine opened the scoring with 4:34 left in the first quarter. With time winding down in the opening quarter, the Eagles scored another goal to make it a 2-0 game. Benedictine would score the first four goals of the game before the Spartans final got on the board with 8:17 left in the half.

The Spartans would get their second goal of the game right before halftime to only trail 6-2 at the break. However, Benedictine’s defense managed to limit the Spartans without another goal until there was just under four minutes left in the game

After scoring four goals in the season opener on Wednesday night, Michael Julius scored all three of UD’s goals on Saturday. Two of the goals were unassisted, while the third was assisted by Tanner Weis.

The Spartans were successful on 18 of their 21 clear attempts against the Eagles.
