Men's Soccer Suffers First Conference Loss

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's soccer fell to the undefeated Simpson College Storm on Saturday afternoon, 2-1 and fell to 5-4-1 (1-1 IIAC) on the season.

How It Happened
-On the second shot of the game by either team and the Spartans first, Viktor Abrahamsen sent a rocket past the Simpson goal keeper to give the Spartans the early lead
-That UD lead did not last long as just seven seconds later, Simpson struck back with a goal of their own to tie the game
-After a Dubuque foul right outside the 18 yard box, Simpson took a free kick and sent it into the box where a crashing Storm player headed the ball into the back of the net.
-Simpson had a several great looks in the second half, including one from point blank range but Brandon White was able to stop them all
-The Spartans outshot the Storm, 20-17, however, Simpson led in shots on goal, 9-7.

-Ryan Weber and Noah Clarke both received yellow cards
-Chris Rigby led UD with five shots attempted, Edvin Loefren, Dominik Chece and Noah Clarke all came off the bench to fire three shots each
-UD took seven corner kicks to Simpson’s two
