Softball Held Scoreless in Re-scheduled Doubleheader to Kohawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team has found the Iowa Conference opponents to be a tough schedule as the Spartans have just one win in eight games over five days. The visiting Coe College Kohawks held the Spartans scoreless on Tuesday after winning game one by a 8-0 margin and stopping game two by an 11-0 with both contests ending in the sixth inning.

The Spartans were held to a combined seven hits in the loss and committed three errors. Courtney Markin went 2-3 in the first game and teammate Brandy Heraty would go 2-3 in the second game. Taylor Blair suffered the loss in the opener after facing 29 batters in 5.2 innings and allowing four earned runs after striking out three. Mackenzie Kopp took the loss in game two after five earned runs in five innings of work. 

The Spartans (6-28 overall, 2-10 in IIAC) continue the conference schedule on Wednesday when they travel across Iowa to play at the Buena Vista University Beavers. Senior Day will be on Saturday, April 28 vs. the Central College Dutch at 2:00 p.m.
