DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque hosted their home opener in a re-scheduled series which was supposed to happen last weekend. The Spartans welcomed UW-La Crosse Eagles to campus for a doubleheader and lost game one in the eighth inning by a score of 2-1. In the nightcap, UD sliced into the Eagles lead in the bottom of the seventh, but came up short by a 6-2 margin. 

Both teams had chances for the win in the game, but the Spartans pitching would leave 11 Eagles on base as UD would leave four runners on base. UW-L committed one error while the Spartas made four errors. Mackenzie Kopp took the loss after allowing one earned run and facing 37 batters. She struck out two and walked three in eight innings. 

The Spartans finished with four hits, three singles and a double by Brandy Heraty.

In game two, UD would finish with two runs scored off seven hits and committed one error. The Eagles scored six runs off eight hits and committed one error. Both team stranded five runners on base. 

Taylor Blair suffered the loss on the mound after facing 32 batters and allowing just two walks. She gave up five earned runs in the complete seven inning contest. Offensively Morgan Jakel went 2-3 at bat and scored a run to lead the Spartans. UD falls to 4-14 overall and will host #10-ranked UW-Whitewater on April 3 at 2:30 p.m. on the UD softball Field.
